STARTING THE MOTOR (FIG. C)

Warning! Ensure that the grinder is empty before

starting the motor.

Start the motor by first turning the control (3) anti-

clockwise and then turning on the main (green) switch

(2).

CHANGING DIRECTION OF

ROTATION

To change the direction of rotation, first turn the con-

trol to position 0 and wait until the spiral cutter has

stopped. Then turn the control clockwise and turn on

the main switch.

STOPPING THE MOTOR

Stop the motor by turning the switch to position 0.

Do not feed in any material after the motor has been

stopped. This will get caught in the machine and can

make restarting impossible.

Disconnect the plug if the machine is to be left unsu-

pervised.

EMERGENCY STOP

In order to stop the machine quickly, e.g. in an emer-

gency, press the 0 button (red) on the main switch (2).

MOTOR PROTECTION

The grinder is equipped with a built-in motor protec-

tion which prevents the motor being overloaded. In

the event of overloading, the main switch is turned off

automatically. The current is broken.

After 5 minutes of cooling, the motor can be started

again.

AUTOMATIC CHANGE IN

DIRECTION OF ROTATION

In the event of a sudden blockage, the machine can

automatically change the direction of rotation. This

causes the material to be fed back.

• Switch off the machine

• Wait until the spiral cutter has stopped

• Start the machine again and use material which can

be processed more easily.

GRINDING

The following types of material can be ground in the

compost grinder:

• Twigs and branches

• Waste from cutting bushes

• Waste from hedge-trimming

• Plant parts and other garden waste which is suita-

ble for grinding.

Examples of materials which are not suitable

for grinding include:

- Glass, metal, plastic bags, stones, fabric, earth-cover-

ed roots

- Waste that does not have a firm consistency, e.g.

kitchen waste.

To prevent damage to the machine, you are recom-

mended not to exceed the following maximum sizes of

twigs and branches:

< 40 mm diameter

Feel free to stand the grinder on a tarpaulin or similar

before grinding. This will catch the ground material

and make removal easier.

The material that is to be ground is fed into the fee-

ding hopper and, assuming it is not too bulky, automa-

tically pulled down through the slowly rotating spiral

cutter to the blades.

Branches and twigs should be ground shortly after

being cut. They become extremely hard when they dry

out, and the maximum diameter of what can be ground

is reduced.

Don’t insert too much material (especially soft and

slim tender branches) into the shredder at one time,

otherwise it will be easy to be blocked.

A large proportion of garden waste contains a lot of

water and therefore sticks easily. Such material should

be allowed to dry for a few days before being processed.

ADJUSTING THE SHAVING PLATE

The cutting mechanism is adjusted in the works and

does not have to be set during initial commissioning.

until scraping noises hare heard and fine aluminium

chips fall out of the delivery chute. Worn points on

the shaving plate are optimally compensated.

• This improves the cutting of the shredding material.

MAINTENANCE

These appliances are designed to function without dif-

ficulty for a long time and to require minimum mainte-

nance. You will prolong the appliance’s life by cleaning

it regularly and using it correctly.

• When the machine is stopped for servicing, inspec-

tion, or storage, or to change an accessory, shut off

the power source (electric unit disconnect from

supply), make sure that all moving parts have come

to a complete stop and, where a key is fitted remo-

ve the key. Allow the machine to cool before

making any inspections, adjustments, etc.

• When servicing the cutting means be aware that,

even though the power source will not start due to

the interlock feature of the guard, the cutting

means can still be moved by a manual starting

mechanism.

Cleaning

Clean the housing regularly with a soft cloth, prefera-

bly every time it is used. Keep the air vents free of dust

and dirt. Remove stubborn dirt with a soft rag moiste-

ned in soapy water. Do not use any solvents such as

petrol, alcohol, ammonia, etc. as such substances can

damage the plastic parts.
