1- Precautions
1.1 Place of use
The surrounding environment may affect the performance of your machine, we therefore recommend that you use it :
• In an area where it is not liable to come into contact with water or other types of liquid.
• In a dry, clean area.
• In an area away from direct sunlight.
• On a stable surface which is not subject to vibrations.
• Far from heat-releasing elements.
1.2 Precautions for use
Please take the following precautions to prevent damage to the detector :
• NEVER knock the detector.
• NEVER drop the detector.
• NEVER place heavy objects on top of the detector or objects which may jolt it.
• NEVER meddle with the detector.
• NEVER clean the detector with an alcohol or solvent-based cleaner.
• NEVER leave the battery inside the detector during long periods of non-use.
• ALWAYS clean the detector with a damp, soft cloth.
• ALWAYS check the cleanness of the detector’s measuring window.
• ALWAYS use an alkaline battery manufactured by a reliable brand.
2- Power Alimentation
Your detector can be supplied by two sources of distinct energies :
• Power pack 9V cd. 500mA (provided) for a use in mode fixes.
• Alimentation by alkaline battery 9V type PP3 (not provided) for a use in autonomous mode.
2.1 Power pack Alimentation
Connect the electric cable sector on the catch of your detector (taken located on the with dimensions inferior detecting right).
2.2 Battery Alimentation
Open the battery compartment at the back of the machine by sliding the cover , place or replace the used battery with a new PP3 9V type
alkaline battery manufactured by a reliable brand. Close the battery compartment. In the event of long periods of non-use of your
machine, please remove the battery.
3- Using the detector
You ensure before that the apparatus is well connected to its power pack or a battery
3.1 On / Off
To start or to stop the detector press on the pushbutton located on the with dimensions right of the detector
Foot-note : In battery alimentation, the detector stops automatically after two minutes of inactivity and two hours in power pack .
3.2 Test
• Check that the indicators red and orange flash.
• Make slip banknote, visible face
(1)
back, of left on the right in the detector banknote guide (to see index)
• Leave banknote entirely the guide.
• The green status light is on: your detector is technically analysing the banknote as theoretically genuine.
• The red status light is on: your detector is technically analysing the banknote as theoretically counterfeit.
(1) The face back of the eurobill comprises : ► The serial number of banknote.
► The Europe geographical map.
► The chart of a bridge.

3.3 Positioning
If the banknote has been incorrectly applied to the detector during the test phase, the orange and green colour status lights will flash. If this is
the case, repeat the test by ensuring you to place the bill well at the bottom of the guide bill of the detector.
3.4 Speed of the test
For maximum efficacy, inspections must be performed in over 0.5 seconds. Scanning the banknote too fast will activate the error signal
(Flashing orange status light). Repeat the test at a slower pace.
3.5 Final result
The result from this machine should only be considered as an evaluation of the authenticity of the inspected banknote. The user alone is
responsible for declaring the authenticity of the inspected banknote.
Be attentive and, in addition to use of this detector, please respect the recommendations provided by your country’s National Bank. Only
the bank that issued the banknote can judge a banknote’s authenticity.
Further to your detector’s evaluation, please inspect the security systems which are present on authentic banknotes such as watermarks,
micro-letters, metallic threads, holograms, etc…
Under no circumstances can we be held responsible in any way for an error of analysis, such as the authentification of a counterfeit banknote
or the rejection of an authentic banknote.
4- Replacing the battery
Open the battery compartment at the back of the machine by sliding the cover (Index 1), replace the used battery with a new PP3 9V type
alkaline battery manufactured by a reliable brand. Close the battery compartment.
In the event of long periods of non-use of your machine, please remove the battery.
5- Sound signal
To enable/disable the sound signal :
• open the battery compartment.
• Give off the pile of its housing without disconnecting it.
• Start your detector.
• Press once on the pushbutton located in the battery compartment.
Foot-note : The sound signal is automatically activated when the pile of the detector is too worn.
6- Software maintenance
The Saturne detector can be connected to a PC to download updates for its software. Updating software is important for maintaining an optimal
level of authentification over time.
6.1 Registration
You need to register on line with our services to be entitled to software updates. To do so, simply connect to our website www.monetec.com
and follow the instructions.
6.2 PC Connection (Index / drawing 1)
To connect your machine to a PC :
• Remove the battery cover then remove the battery from its housing without disconnecting it.
• Locate the RJ connector socket (Index 2, Fig E) and connect the PC connection cable which was supplied with your detector (RJ
outlet of the cable on the detector’s RJ connector socket) (Index 2, Fig F).
• Turn off your PC’s power and connect the other end of the cable (SUB-D outlet) to an available COM port.
• Turn on the PC and connect to the Website : www.monetec.com and you will be guided through the procedure for downloading
the update. Use this table to document updates made to your machine’s software (last page).
7- Ambient light
Your detector is an apparatus using an precision optics. A too strong ambient light intensity can lead the detector to be put in a mode of error
(the 3 indicators of colors flash). If such is the case, place the apparatus in a place less exposed to the ambient light.
Foot-note : Before any fixing, check that the place selected is not exposed too much to a strong ambient light intensity.
8- Mounting plate
The mounting plate provided with your apparatus allows a configuration of use in fixed mode
8.1 Mural assembly
• Unscrew the two screws (D) located at the back of the detector (Index / drawing 2).
• Present the 2 holes (A) of the mounting plate in front of the 2 holes (D) of detector (Index / drawing 3).
• Screw to it mounting plate by using the same screws.
• Fix to it mounting plate on the support of your choice by means of the 2 holes C and of screw.
